It’s time

IMG_7013

Wait just a minute!

I had my head-shaving planned for next weekend.

Doh!

Red Chemo: 1, Jen’s Hair: 0

Another piece of evidence that Red Chemo is still percolating and doing it’s thing.  Go chemo go!

True story: I was going to rely on my strawberry-blond orange hair for Orange Chemo day since I have no orange in my wardrobe.  But in the mail yesterday, I received an orange scarf from a dear friend who saw a rainbow of scarves at Grand Central Station in NYC and thought of me.  So, apparantly my hair knew it was off the hook and felt free to fall today!

Looks like it’s time.  I’m not worried, the last time I shaved my head was one of my most favorite cancer days.  Ever.  Seriously.  Brad looked at me like it was our wedding day all over again.

Maybe I jinxed myself, because last night I retrieved my bin of hats (I acquired a lot) and pulled out what I thought would work for this round.  Last time I was bald in the summertime (biggest problem = staying cool in a hat), and this time it will be winter the whole time.  Brrrrr!  Soft, warm, non-itchy, and, of course, cute are the order of the day.  Wish me luck!

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.  Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.  –1 Peter 3:3-4

  13. When I had no hair in winter, I found wrapping a scarf around my head kept me warmer than many hats. I now wear with joy some of those same scarves around my neck in thankfulness for chemo and my health. I wish the same for you.
