Things I loved about Maren today:
-She is really good at Guess Who. We play competitively. Today I was explaining the final strategy point about picking the most generic people: the men with brown eyes and no accessories.
-She played school with her class for at least an hour by herself. As I busied myself around the house I heard her muttering under her breath specific directions to her students. Some encouraging words, some disciplining words… and I liked that she play-acted both.
-Her art. It is still a mental struggle for me that I can’t keep it all. I see value and growth in each piece and I hope I save what will be a cohesive continuum of her artistic flair. Such heavy responsibility to be a mom.
-Watching her with her class at preschool when she didn’t know I was there. Her mannerisms, her quiet obedience in being part of the pack, her lighting up when she saw me.
-She calls me ‘Mama.’ Often, Brad is ‘Dada.’
-Her post-dinner, post-dessert reward was snuggles with Mom. This pretty much means she thinks I am better than dessert, and there is no higher compliment from a four-year-od.
